Hosting and server logs

The portal is hosted on a server in Germany. When you access the website, technically necessary data is processed, including your IP address, the date and time of the request, the resource requested, the amount of data transferred, the referrer, and browser and operating system information. This data supports the secure and stable operation of the website. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.

Content database

Editorial content is provided as a static dataset on the German web server. Simply reading the website does not result in personal user data being stored there in a content database.

Embedded YouTube videos

Videos are embedded using the privacy-friendly version (youtube-nocookie.com). The connection and data transfer to YouTube/Google begin after you click “Load video”, even if playback does not start. Google’s privacy policy applies.

Google Analytics

If you consent, we use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Usage data, device and browser information, approximate location data and online identifiers may be processed to help us understand visits and use of the portal. Google Analytics is loaded only after your consent. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR.

Google may also process data in third countries, including the United States. Transfers to Google LLC in the United States are based on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and, where required, the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. User-level and event-level data in Google Analytics is set to be deleted after two months. The _ga and _ga_<container-id> cookies expire after 60 days from your first consent. We store your consent decision locally in your browser for six months; it is not sent to us. Google privacy policy

You can withdraw your consent at any time for the future through “Privacy settings” in the footer. Withdrawal stops further audience measurement on this device and removes accessible Google Analytics cookies.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to the newsletter, we store your email address, chosen language, subscription time and subscription status in a database on our German web server. Your subscription becomes active only after you confirm it using the link sent by email. The confirmation email is processed through Resend. The legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. Unconfirmed subscriptions are deleted after seven days. You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future.

Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
